Refer to the current Denver sectional excerpt. Kelly Air Park is charted with the data block "7040 - 38 123.05." What does "123.05" represent?

Why: After an airport's elevation and runway-length figures, sectional charts print the frequency to use at that field — here, 123.05 MHz, Kelly Air Park's CTAF/UNICOM frequency. The elevation (7,040 feet) and runway length (3,800 feet, from "38" in hundreds of feet) are the two numbers that come before it, separated by a dash.

  • 7,040, not 123.05, is the field elevation — it's the first number in the data block, before the dash.
  • 38 (in hundreds of feet, i.e., 3,800 feet) is the runway length — 123.05 is a radio frequency, not a runway dimension.
